Research Awards
Dr. Folse has received several research awards. For the 2007-2008 year, he received an academic sabbatical to research and write several projects, most notably Keys to Teaching Grammar to English Language Learners: A Practical Handbook, which is a grammar book for ESL teachers (University of Michigan Press).
In 2005, Dr. Folse received both RIA and SoTL awards at the University of Central Florida for his research and pedagogical works, including the lead article in the spring 2006 TESOL Quarterly and his best-selling book Vocabulary Myths: Applying Second Language Research to Classroom Teaching (University of Michigan Press). In the summer of both 2002 and 2003, he served as research mentor for two MATESOL graduate students as they jointly conducted research among the students at our intensive program, the Center for Multilingual Multicultural Studies.
